The Colorado Division of Workers Compensation recently posted the maximum benefit rates for Colorado workers compensation for 2012-2013. These rates go into effect on July 1, 2012 and apply through June 30, 2013. To see the updated maximum rates from the Colorado Division of Workers Compensation please view here.
These new rates underscore the reality that Colorado workers compensation benefits are limited. For instance, while Colorado workers receiving temporary workers compensation benefits are normally entitled to two-thirds of their weekly wage amount in benefits, that amount is capped at $1273.23 per week. This means that anyone earning over $1273.23 per week would only receive benefits for the first $1273.23 of their weekly income. So if you earned $2000 per week, your total temporary workers compensation benefit per week would still only be $848.82, much less than two-thirds of your weekly income.
In addition to workers compensation benefits, there may be other avenues in which you can pursue compensation for injuries sustained on the job in Colorado. Contact an experienced workers compensation attorney today to help find all of the avenues available in your case.
It’s also important to be aware of the difference between temporary and permanent workers compensation benefits in Colorado, because the insurance companies are certainly very of it. Workplace injury compensation amounts can vary based on your temporary or permanent status. Permanent workers compensation benefits can be affected by reaching caps on temporary benefits. Insurance companies will try to use this to minimize the amount you receive. An experienced Colorado Workers Compensation attorney can help you navigate the pitfalls of the Colorado Workers Compensation system and help you get all of the benefits to which you are entitled.
