Spring Break Safety Tips

On Behalf of | Mar 18, 2016 | Auto Accidents, Catastrophic Injury, Personal Injury

Many college students are on spring break already or looking forward to it in the next couple of weeks. Taking a trip with friends is a right of passage these days, but it can also lead to serious injuries. Use these tips to keep your trip fun and safe!

  • Drink Responsibly. Although drinking is often a big part of spring break festivities, it is also a big factor in injuries and deaths during spring break. Car accidents involving alcohol kill someone every 31 minutes and injure someone every two minutes. Do your part on spring break to never get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.
  • Use Safety Gear. Make sure to use life jackets, seatbelts, helmets and any other appropriate safety gear while enjoying your vacation. You’ll enjoy it much more without a head injury or some other serious injury.
  • Wear Sunscreen. You’ve most likely spent the last several months inside and under several layers of clothes. If your spring break includes hitting the beach, don’t forget the sunscreen, sunglasses, and hat.
  • Travel with Friends. That’s part of the fun, and it helps create a safer environment. You can even designate a sober friend each day to make sure your group makes it back to the hotel safely each night.
